Tutor – Alternative Education Provision

Salary:  £16,000     Pro-rata, term time only

Main Responsibilities:

  • Develop relationships with learners in order to support their needs.
  • Engage and encourage learners to participate in learning.
  • Differentiate tasks and strategies to provide bespoke support for a variety of needs.
  • Support learners to progress towards personal and academic goals and targets.
  • Work as part of a team to incorporate agreed strategies in addressing behaviour and meeting the individual needs of learners.
  • Deliver teaching to group sizes of 3 – 12.
  • Mark work and provide feedback to learners.
  • Complete daily evaluations on our online system.
  • Maintain registers and other records as necessary.
  • At the end of each session prepare learning environment for following session.
  • Attend all session briefings and meetings with managers and tutors to keep up to date with individual learner progress.
  • Attend team meetings and case reviews.
  • Attend all safeguarding and child protection training and be aware of Inclusion Hampshire procedures at all times.
  • Adhere to Inclusion Hampshire policies.

Person Specification:

Education/Knowledge

  • Teaching qualifications as a minimum: PTTLS,  Level 1 Teaching and Education or HLTA
  • Awareness of factors impacting on and issues facing vulnerable children and young people and families (e.g. disadvantage, poverty, disability)
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
  • Have a creative approach
  • Knowledge of child/young people development
  • Knowledge of learning strategies and behaviour management

Experience

  • Experience of direct work with children and young people
  • Experience of applying safeguarding and child protection policies and procedures

Skills/Abilities

  • Ability to listen to and communicate effectively with children and young people
  • Ability to build trusting relationships with young people conducive to a learning environment
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Ability to accurately and clearly record case notes with a good standard of writing and IT skills
  • Ability to adapt and differentiate teaching and resources

  • To undertake other duties as reasonably deemed appropriate by the Line Manager for the role or the Chief Executive
